Roy’s Boys unveils Lowry partnership

New collection of socks celebrates iconic artwork of Lawrence S Lowry.

UK-based sock manufacturer Roy’s Boys has launched a new collection celebrating the iconic artwork of Lawrence S Lowry.

The socks come as part of a collaboration between the family sock business and The Lowry museum, recreating some of Lowry’s timeless pieces including Coming from the Mill, Going to Work and the Market Scene in sock form.

“Not many people will have the chance to have Lowry’s work hanging on their wall at home,” said Ben Lowe, senior account manager at Roy Lowe & Sons. “With the skill and craft that goes into making socks, we see them as works of art, too. It’s only fitting that Lowry’s stunning pieces of art are knitted on only the finest socks possible.”

Laurence S Lowry was a Salford born artist, best known for his mill scene and industrial landscape paintings that captured Manchester life in the 20th Century. His art remains extremely popular, with The Lowry venue opening in April 2000 in Manchester.

Martin Lowe, md of Roy Lowe & Sons, continued: “We take great pride in manufacturing high-quality goods here in the UK and are incredibly pleased to include Lowry in our ever-growing portfolio of classic brands and licences.

“With our family business now into its third generation, Lowry’s ability to capture industrial scenes really struck a chord with us. His pictures paint a thousand words, and illustrate what life was like when my father started building his name in the sock and hosiery industry a few decades ago.”

Martin added: “As we already make socks with designs from the likes of Van Gogh and Monet, Lowry’s designs are in a great company and are a great addition to an already strong art sock collection.”
