Collaborations help boost Dr. Martens

Tie ups with brands including the Sex Pistols help boost profits by 70%.

Collaborations with brands such as Sex Pistols and The Who, plus designer Marc Jacobs, have helped to boost profits at Dr. Martens.

Profits grew by 70% in the year to the end of March, while online sales also increased by two-thirds to £72.7 million. Online now accounts for 16% of total revenues for the company.

Notably, the Sex Pistols collection has been nominated in the Best Licensed Adult Apparel Range at The Licensing Awards 2019, which is being held on Tuesday September 10.

As well as the collaborations, the company has also seen success with its new vegan range of boots, plus its tie-up with streetwear brand Lazy Oaf.

Increased margins on the products meant that underlying earnings rose by 70% year on year to £85 million.
