UK names make shortlist for 2020 International Licensing Awards

Licensing International confirms nominees for this year’s event which takes place during Licensing Expo in August.

A number of British names have made the shortlist for this year’s International Licensing Awards, which has been confirmed by Licensing International.

The trade body said that more than 600 entries were received this year from companies in 22 countries.

Those submissions were judged by a panel of 152 executives from 20 nations. The hours of analysis and evaluation by those judges produced a ballot that includes 175 nominees in 23 categories of brands, properties and companies.

A raft of companies from the UK take their place among the nominees. These include the V&A, which has nominations with partners Coco de Mer, Twinings and People Tree, as well as for the museum itself; Harrogate Tipple which is nominated for its Downton Abbey Gin & Whiskey, as well as in the Newcomer category; Mad Beauty for its Disney Villains Bath & Beauty range; Murdock London for its Peaky Blinders Shave & Grooming range; Dreamtex for its National Geographic Recycled Bedding; Morris & Co; Acamar Films for Bing; eOne’s preschool favourites Peppa Pig and PJ Masks; Games Workshop’s Warhammer brand; and The Very Hungry Caterpillar at the Royal Horticultural Society.

In addition, Kent & Curwen‘s collaboration with Peaky Blinders has received a nod, as does the Peppa Pig x Hunter partnership.

The Point.1888 and WildBrain CPLG are also among the nominees in the Best Agency/Manufacturer’s Rep category.

“This elite group of nominees is truly representative of the global licensing community, showcasing the creativity and innovation that is part of our industry’s DNA,” said Maura Regan, president ofLicensing International. “During these difficult times, we want to make sure that we don’t forget about the importance of celebrating the companies and people behind these successes.”

The next phase of the process will see members of Licensing International submit their votes online when the member voting period opens next week. Each member company is allowed to submit one ballot.

The winners will be unveiled at a special awards ceremony during Licensing Expo – which is being held from August 11-13 – where this year’s Hall of Fame inductee and Rising Stars will also be honoured.
