Sony takes over Oxford Circus for PS5 launch stunt

Transport for London teams with Sony to give Oxford Circus a makeover as new console launches.

Transport for London has teamed up with Sony, giving Oxford Circus tube station a PlayStation 5 makeover to mark the launch of the new console.

The traditional roundel ‘underground’ signs across the four street entrances to the station have been transformed into the squares, triangles and crosses – the classic symbols of the PlayStation controller, reported City AM.

In addition, TfL has also filled the station with PlayStation logos and rebranded tube stations across the network.

Mile End station has been renamed Miles End in a nod to Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales; Lancaster Gate has become Ratchet and Clankaster Gate; Seven Sisters is Gran Turismo 7 Sisters; while West Ham has been rebranded Horizon Forbidden West Ham.

The Oxford Circus activity will last for 48 hours, while the other stations rebranding will run until December.
