Cyber Group Studios selected for Epic Games’ Epic MegaGrant

Grant will be used to boost company’s efforts to launch new virtual production pipeline.

Cyber Group Studios – the company behind the dinosaur-based animated series, Gigantosaurus – has been selected as an Epic MegaGrant recipient by Epic Games.

The grant will be used to accelerate the company’s ability to create immersive entertainment experiences and further its mission to deliver film-quality content and interactive games to homes via TV and mobile devices.

It will also be used to bolster Cyber Group Studios’ efforts to launch a new virtual production pipeline. This includes an Unreal Engine-powered real-time rendering and motion capture studio, located in Roubaix, France.

The new studio will host a state-of-the-art virtual production, real-time rendering, and hybrid magnetic/optical motion capture studio. Currently under construction, the studio will be fully operational by the end of March 2021, and will combine its operations with the existing Cyber Group Studios 11,000 square foot facility.

Planned for release later this year, original scripted animated series Giganto Club will be the first programme to be produced at the new studio. The latest dinosaur adventure will expand on the success the company has enjoyed with Gigantosaurus, which launched worldwide in 2019/2020.

Each episode will present facts about the Cretaceous period and provide comparisons with today’s world. The series will be hosted by real-time animated dinos which will engage viewers with games, songs and themed segments such as ‘Dino-news’ and ‘Dino-guests’.

In addition to Giganto Club, Cyber Group Studios is planning to apply its real-time animation workflow to two additional animated series: Monster in My Pocket and Alex Player.

“We are honoured to benefit from Epic Games’ support through the Epic MegaGrants programme as we realise our real-time and virtual production vision to create more immersive entertainment for kids and families around the world,” said Pierre Sissmann, chairman and ceo of Cyber Group Studios.
