CPLG reshuffles top level management

Maarten Weck adds responsibility for CPLG UK, as Stephen Gould steps down.

CPLG has made a number of major changes to its top level management across several territories, including the UK.

Stephen Gould has stepped down from the role of UK md to pursue other opportunities.

Maarten Weck (pictured), currently md of CPLG Northern Europe will now take on the additional responsibility of heading up CPLG UK.

He will be supported by John Taylor, who has been promoted to commercial director for CPLG UK and Gemma Witts, who is now retail and marketing director.

CPLG ceo Peter Byrne commented: “Historically we have focused on single-territory teams, but we have found that our business is becoming increasingly more global.

“We have incredible talent across the group, and the changes we are announcing enable us to continue to consolidate our European footprint and position us strongly for further growth.

“The UK is undoubtedly a lead market for CPLG, and Maarten brings extensive experience of retail, licensing, and multi territory management, which will add huge value to our current business.”

Peter continued: “Both John and Gemma have spearheaded the sales and retail activity in the UK and these promotions recognise not only their outstanding work on Minions and the RFU, amongst many, but are also a reflection of the wealth and depth of industry experience they both have.

“Stephen has contributed significantly to the success of this organisation. We acknowledge his efforts and thank him for the unconditional commitment and dedication throughout his tenure. On behalf of everyone at CPLG, I would like to wish Stephen the best of success in future challenges and endeavours.”

In addition, Maria Gurrieri, currently md of CPLG Italy, will now add the responsibility of Turkey and Greece to her overall remit, to become md CPLG Southern Europe. Anthe Louizos, md CPLG Turkey and Greece, will report to Maria.

Pau Pascual, who currently manages CPLG Iberia, will take on the additional oversight of the Middle East, to support the expansion plans of CPLG MENA, which was set up last year and is headed up by Abdel Boazzati, md CPLG MENA.

Peter concluded: “Maarten, Maria and Pau are all first-class licensing executives who have been major contributors to the rapid growth of CPLG in the last few years and I’m sure with their expanded leadership roles we are poised for even bigger things going forward.

“This realignment really sets us up for the next phase of CPLG’s growth across UK and EMEA as we become even more entrenched in those markets.”
