Kung Fu Panda 3 is a record breaker in China

DreamWorks’ title becomes biggest animated film ever at the Chinese box office.

Kung Fu Panda 3 has broken records in China to become the biggest animated film at the territory’s box office.

According to box office monitor Ent Group, the movie had notched up 975 Chinese yuan ($149 million) by the end of Sunday (February 28).

The Source reported in January how Kung Fu Panda 3 marked the first time that an animated film has been produced in two languages, English and Mandarin. Chinese audiences will be watching a specially animated film for a Mandarin performer.

Kung Fu Panda 3 is the first film from DreamWorks’ Shanghai-based venture, Oriental DreamWorks.

In the US, the movie has so far grossed $128.5 million. It is due to hit the UK box office on March 11.
