Blue Peter launches Dream Big promo

Competition coincides with Roald Dahl 100 and launch of The BFG movie.

Blue Peter is running a special Dream Big initiative, tied in to the Roald Dahl 100 celebrations and the launch of The BFG movie.

Viewers of the popular show aged between six and 15 were asked to create their very own dream story, the sort that The BFG would love to catch on his midnight travels.

They simply needed to write a plot summary outlining their story, including the setting and original characters, and draw a creative storyboard with the key scenes of beginning, middle and end.

The winner – due to be revealed in mid-July – will work with a top animation studio to have their dream story turned into an animated sequence.

They will also attend the red carpet premiere of The BFG in July, and be in with a chance of showing director Steven Spielberg their animation.

The judging panel includes British screenwriter and daughter of Roald Dahl, Lucy Dahl, as well as Ruby Barnhill, who stars as Sophie in the new film.

The BFG hits UK cinemas on July 22.
