The Grand Appeal launches Wrong Trousers Day

June 24 event has been inspired by Oscar winning Wallace & Gromit film.

The Grand Appeal has officially launched this year’s Wrong Trousers Day.

Taking place on Friday June 24, the event is inspired by the Oscar winning Wallace & Gromit film and gives schools, companies, clubs, societies and individuals the chance to celebrate their craziest clothing.

Those looking to take part simply need to pay £1 to ditch the dress code and step out in something sillier.

All funds raised will of to The Grand Appeal, the Bristol Children’s Hospital Charity.

Nick Park, the creator of Wallace & Gromit, and Aardman co-founders Peter Lord and David Sproxton were among supporters who posed in their own wrong trousers to launch this year’s event. The trio were photographed on set at Aardman studios.

Nicola Masters, director of The Grand Appeal, said: “The Grand Appeal’s first Wrong Trousers Day was held back in 1997 and took the South West by storm. Since then, the event has raised more than £1.5 million for sick children. This year’s Wrong Trousers Day is taking place on Friday 24 June and we’re calling on schools, companies and groups across the region to help us make it bigger and better than ever.”

Nick Park added: “I hope that people across the South West are inspired to follow Wallace’s lead and wear their wrong trousers on Friday June 24.”
