LIMA UK Rising Stars: Georgina Huckle

Today it’s the turn of Rainbow Productions’ sales & marketing executive to be profiled.

Georgina Huckle,

Sales & Marketing Executive, Rainbow Productions

My route into the licensing industry went something like this…

I previously worked for the local Guardian newspaper where I came across an advert for Rainbow Productions in the jobs section. I didn’t really know much about licensing at this point, but working in advertising had an interest in marketing and events and after a quick Google search, Rainbow Productions looked like a fun and interesting company to work for so I applied. Luckily I got the job and haven’t looked back since.

How long in the industry?

7 years

When I was growing up, I had no idea that ‘licensing’ was an industry, so I wanted to be…

A mechanic.

Biggest inspiration in the licensing industry?

I’d have to say our managing director, David Scott. He’s a great example of how hard work and determination can build a successful company that is well respected in the licensing industry.

Best thing about your current role?

We manage the personal appearances of 100+ licensed characters, so I get to work with lot of different licensors and agents across a number of children’s brands, ranging from evergreen classics such as Peter Rabbit and Paddington to exciting new properties such as PAW Patrol and PJ Masks.

What are you most proud of within your licensing career to date?

Being able to say we’ve worked on huge global sporting tournaments including the London 2012 Olympic Games, where I helped third party clients be able to promote appearances of Wenlock and Mandeville at their events.

Licensed character you can most identify with (and why)?

Peppa Pig… she was one of the first licensed character brands I worked with and her huge popularity has meant that I have worked with her almost every day since.

What were your first thoughts when you were revealed as a nominee for the LIMA UK Rising Star Award?

Wow! I was shocked to be nominated, but also thankful and it’s great to know that the work I do is really appreciated.

The adage goes, once you enter the licensing industry, you never really leave… what are your short-term goals for your career in licensing?

My short-term goals include continuing to succeed at Rainbow Productions. I’m looking forward to using the knowledge I’ve gained so far and applying this to new licensed brands.

The LIMA UK Rising Stars award will be presented as part of the Licensing Awards, which take place on Tuesday September 13 at The Grosvenor Hotel, London.
