Why we’re backing the B&LLAs 2017: LIMA UK

Trade body says event underlines that licensing is a growing opportunity for brand owners.

With the countdown on to the return of the Brand & Lifestyle Licensing Awards in April, trade body LIMA has once again given its backing to the event.

Kelvyn Gardner, md of LIMA UK, said that the B&LLAs helped to underline the message that licensing is a growing opportunity for UK brand owners.

“As the licensing of all IP becomes increasingly mainstream and better known by both business and the consumer, so the widening of its reach to encompass brands continues to reach out further,” Kelvyn commented.

“We often heard in the past from brand owners who feared loss of control were they to contemplate licensing, now they are more likely to understand the professional structure available to them within existing licensing players. There is good business to be won by all sides as this process continues to develop.”

Kelvyn continued: “Recognising the distinctive style and widening scope of brand licensing is not only something that its practitioners deserve, but helps to get out the message that this is a growing opportunity for UK brand owners.

“The B&LLAS perform a great service in marking annual achievement in this specific licensing area and provide a fun occasion, too.”

The Brand & Lifestyle Licensing Awards takes place at The Dorchester, Park Lane on Thursday, April 27.
