Rainbow ready to mark 45th anniversary

Nostalgia brand celebrating milestone with Pizza Hut ad tie-up and new consumer products.

Classic nostalgia brand Rainbow is celebrating its 45th anniversary this year, with a new Pizza Hut TV ad plus refreshed consumer products continuing to keep the brand in the spotlight.

The series first aired in October 1972 and featured 1,071 episodes during its 20-year run. As part of the celebrations, Zippy – who starred in the show along with Bungle and George – will be making an appearance at Brand Licensing Europe next week (Tuesday October 10).

In addition, a new TV ad from Pizza Hut featuring the classic characters assisting a modern family with their takeaway order, launched on October 1 on Channel 4 during The Great British Bake Off.

Tessa Moore, svp global brand management at FremantleMedia, said: “Testament to the show’s originality and lovability, the brand is still going strong 45 years later and we’re thrilled to see the iconic characters star in this latest Pizza Hut Delivery campaign.”
