UBM has declared last month’s Brand Licensing Europe has the ‘best ever’ in the show’s 20-year history. Retailer visitor numbers increased by 24% and overall attendee numbers rose by 6% to a record high of 7,862, including the highest ever number of overseas visitors at 40%. There were 264 exhibitors in Olympia’s Grand and National halls, compared to 244 in 2017, an increase of 8%, including 67 companies which were brand new to the show. In addition, there was a significant uplift in brands and lifestyle exhibitor numbers, up 28%. UBM said that over 85% of next year’s floorplan is already full.

5 Seconds of Summer has announced a pop-up experience in London for October 27 and 28. The move follows on from pop-ups in Japan, Australia and Los Angeles and ties in with the Meet You There World Tour. The shop will be located in Camden Market.

Mattel has been appointed master toy partner for Disney Channel’s new animated series, 101 Dalmatian Street. The toys will launch in several European markets in summer 2019 across several categories including figures, play-sets and accessories.

DHX Brands is teaming with Fierylight, IMG and Zippos Circus to spred festive cheer with the first ever live Teletubbies Christmas Show, due to take place at Hyde Park Winter Wonderland. The event will run daily in the MegaDome from November 23, 2018 to January 6, 2019.

Zodiak Kids has secured the international distribution rights to the fifth series of Horrid Henry. The series is currently in production and will broadcast on Nicktoons in 2019.

Puppeteer Caroll Spinney is stepping down from the roles of Big Bird and Oscar the Grouch, which he has performed on Sesame Street since its 1969 premiere.

Spotlight Licensing and Brand Management has confirmed five new licensing deals for social media brand Boo the World’s Cutest Dog. Bare Tree Media, The Bradford Exchange, Ecell Global, NobleWorks and TabTale are all on board for the brand.
