Curve Digital continues growth with arrival of new ceo

Former SEGA Europe and Tencent senior exec, John Clark, joins UK publisher after record revenues and recent studio acquisitions.

UK video games publisher Curve Digital – which enjoyed success in the summer with licensed video game, Peaky Blinders: Mastermind – has welcomed a new ceo as it looks to drive ahead with its global growth ambitions.

John Clark (pictured left) joins the team from Tencent where he was vp partnerships Europe. Prior to that, he spent 13 years at SEGA Europe, ultimately serving as evp publishing.

The news comes hot on the heels of Curve being named Publisher of the Year for the second year running at the 2020 TIGA Awards, and follows two key acquisitions of Brighton-based Runner Duck, developer of Bomber Crew; and, just last month, of Vancouver studio IronOak, the development team behind For The King.

John commented: “I’ve been impressed with Curve Digital’s growth over the past few years, and I’m delighted and honoured to be joining the team. We have a great portfolio of developer partnerships, some great franchises and have added to our team of talent thanks to the acquisitions of the Runner Duck and IronOak studios.

“We have a very bright future ahead and I’m looking forward to working with the team to help shape it.”

Dominic Wheatley (pictured right), ceo of Catalis Group (of which Curve Digital is a part), added: “We are delighted to announce John Clark as our new ceo; his experience and reputation in the industry are second to none. John joins us following another great year for Curve Digital and we look forward to working together to move Curve into our next phase of expansion.”

Jason Perkins, founder of Curve, said the appointment marked a new phase in the development of the company as it looks to grow its publishing activity.
