Retail Monster signs up new Netflix series, Karma’s World

Company is on board as UK licensing agent for hotly tipped show after securing a deal with 9 Story Brands and Karma’s World Entertainment.

Retail Monster has been selected by 9 Story Brands and Karma’s World Entertainment as the UK licensing agent on the new animated children’s series, Karma’s World.

The new series – aimed at 6-9 year olds – is due to premiere globally on Netflix in late 2021.

Created by multi-award-winning American rapper, actor, producer, entrepreneur and philanthropist, Chris ‘Ludacris’ Bridges, Karma’s World is a coming-of-age story about a young girl finding her voice and using it to change the world. Every episode is infused with hip-hop music, streetwear fashion and original choreography.

Retail Monster will build the consumer products programme in the UK, with a focus on the brand’s core themes of music, dance, fashion, self-expression, community and empowerment.

The consumer products programme is already gaining momentum with Mattel recently announced as the global toy partner, and Scholastic on board as global publisher.

With the anticipated launch of toys in autumn/winter 2022 and publishing launching in January 2022, Retail Monster’s focus will be on a softlines launch for spring/summer 2022, and then growing the consumer products programme in hardlines from autumn/winter 2022.

“From the moment 9 Story presented Karma’s World to us, we knew that this brand was special and carried such a positive message of diversity, inclusivity and empowerment,” said Gemma Witts, European md at Retail Monster. “From a consumer products’ perspective, the incredible quality of the animation and the strong direction set by 9 Story made Karma’s World a must for Retail Monster.

“We are honoured and excited to be working with 9 Story and Karma’s World Entertainment on this brand, and we cannot wait to make it the success we know it will be at retail.”

Kristin Lecour, co-vp, consumer products at 9 Story, added: “We are thrilled to work with Retail Monster to expand the Karma’s World licensing programme in the UK. Their experience in the UK market and with Mattel specifically, will be instrumental in bringing Karma’s World to life in this key international territory.”
