News extra: More licensing news from this week

Including Brand Licensing Europe readying for the online event on 30 November – 1 December.

Source rounds up more news from the licensing industry across the globe from the week.

Following the success of last week’s in-person event at ExCeL, Brand Licensing Europe is gearing up for next week’s online event (30 November – 1 December). A further 870 (and rising) meetings have been booked on the platform, with those who were unable to attend at ExCeL – or those who did attend and would like to book overflow meetings – can connect with most of the in-person exhibitors, as well as 53 online-only exhibitors. The online content programme will also expand on BLE’s What’s Next theme and will include three online-only ‘In Conversation’ sessions with senior execs from ViacomCBS, a sustainability panel with Products of Change and Licensing U. There will also be options to watch recordings of the Team GB and ViacomCBS live keynotes, five ‘What’s Next at Retail’ sessions and the Kelvyn Gardner Licence This final which took place at the show. All of the content will be available to watch on-demand for free until 28 February 2022.

The Copyrights Group has revealed a new Paddington-inspired café at Paddington station. The environment has been created to reflect the brand values with rich colours, vintage furniture, natural textures and a live green wall. Luggage tag themed way-finding, booth seating complete with vintage luggage rack and suitcases beside an illuminated ‘Lost and Found’ sign evoke Paddington’s original journey to London. The food will be sourced locally with a unique menu proposition, while a store will include a range of bespoke products including apparel.

Converse has joined the 25th anniversary celebrations for Pokémon, with the debut of a full range of footwear, apparel and accessories. Bravado has launched a collaborative capsule inspired by LEGO VIDIYO, a music video maker experience which allows children to direct, produce, star in and share their own music videos. The collection aims to celebrate the ‘intersection of LEGO play, music and fashion’ featuring designs from P.A.M, Soulland, BBC ICECREAM and Bravado.

The Smiley Company has partnered with China’s number one beer brand, Tsingtao for an exclusive collaboration which will see a limited edition range of beer sold across mainland China. Music-related designs are being seen on Tsingtao ‘Pure Draft’ cans and bottles, with eight Smiley icons decorating the cans including bespoke icons created especially for the campaign. A limited edition bottle has also been created, with a design intended to bring people together – when brought close together, two bottles create a complete Smiley.

Silvergate Media is readying for the release of Hilda and the Mountain King, an 80-minute movie special which will launch exclusively on Netflix from 30 December. The movie has been adapted from Luke Pearson’s sixth graphic novel in the Hilda series.
