Games studio PRELOADED teams with BBC Studios for experience revealing hidden wonders of the natural world.
BBC Studios has joined forces with games studio PRELOADED for the launch of a BBC Earth mixed reality experience which will reveal hidden wonders of the natural world.
BBC Earth – Micro Kingdoms: Senses for Magic Leap is a new mixed-reality experience that offers audiences a chance to interactively explore incredible micro habitats from the natural world.
The experience will use the unique capabilities of the Magic Leap spatial computing platform to bring people face-to-face with its inhabitants, revealing the invisible senses that guide their behaviour and help them survive.
Developed by PRELOADED in collaboration with BBC Studios and its Natural History Unit – and funded by the Magic Leap Independent Creator Program – the experience follows last year’s BBC Earth: Life in VR.
It is due to launch later this year on Magic Leap One.
“We’re thrilled to be partnering with PRELOADED to bring our joint interactive and creative skills to such an exciting new platform and technology,” said Bradley Crooks, head of digital entertainment and games at BBC Studios. “Our natural history team has always used new technologies to tell stories and BBC Earth has brought these innovations to new and established audiences to engage them with the natural world.
“Mixed Reality and the Magic Leap spatial computing platform presents us with exciting new possibilities to achieve these goals.”
Phil Stuart, founder and creative director at PRELOADED, added: “We’re excited to be exploring the possibility space for storytelling in mixed reality and to be working once again with BBC Studios to use immersive technologies to give audiences incredible access to our amazing natural world.”
