Golden Goose puts pop culture properties in the spotlight

Licensing Source Book’s first ever double-cover supplement, published alongside the autumn issue, shines a spotlight on two fun-packed pop culture properties managed by boutique brand licensing consultancy Golden Goose: Original Stormtrooper and the Rocky Horror Show.

Reimagined outside the Star Wars universe enjoying a ‘day off’ – whether it involves chilling on the beach, enjoying a barbecue or playing video games – the globally recognisable Original Stormtrooper enjoys a stellar sideline in licensing.

Working closely with the Stormtrooper’s original creator and brand owner Andrew Ainsworth, Golden Goose has grown the licensing programme from a standing start eight years ago to encompass 45 licensees, spanning everything from giftware and food and drink to pet foods and health and beauty. Over 16 pages, the supplement delves deeper into the Stormtrooper’s timeless appeal and showcases just some of the inventive, and authentic, products Golden Goose’s licensee partners have created. It takes a closer look at Golden Goose’s fantastic library of Original Stormtrooper assets, which offer licensees a galaxy of design opportunities, as well as giving a fascinating insight into the brand’s provenance and history.

Drawing on its expertise in the pop culture space, Golden Goose is ready to grow the licensing programme for another pop culture phenomenon: one-of-a-kind rock musical Rocky Horror Show.

Celebrating its 50th anniversary this year with a world tour, and with the first licensed products – ranging from dress-up to board games, partywear and apparel – currently hitting shelves, the time is ripe for a Rocky celebration, says brand director Robyn Cowling.

“Rocky Horror carries a genuinely positive message, that it’s okay to be yourself, whatever that may look like. Consumers and retailers are looking for a fun, diverse, authentic brand that encourages sexual liberation and personal freedom, and we believe Rocky Horror will fill this gap.” And with views of #RockyHorror topping 700 million on TikTok, there’s clearly an audience hungry for more…

Over 12 pages we hone in on the enduring popularity of the show and how Golden Goose’s Rocky Horror style guide is reinventing the brand for today’s retail landscape, and showcase the latest products and partnerships both in the UK and Stateside.

”We’d like to thank the team at Max Publishing for all their hard work,” commented Golden Goose’s director Adam Bass. “Preparing the content for these two supplements has really helped us to crystallise our thinking about these two amazing pop culture properties and, hopefully, provides potential licensees with all the detail they need to make an informed decision before taking out a licence. We look forward to updating our licensee list with more partners after BLE.“
