Christmas TV slots confirmed for Revolting Rhymes

Latest Magic Light adaptation will air on December 26 and 27 on BBC One.

The Christmas TV slots for the premiere of Magic Light Pictures’ Revolting Rhymes have been confirmed.

The adaptation of Roald Dahl’s popular book will air in two parts – Boxing Day (Monday December 26) at 6.30pm and Tuesday December 27 at 6.30pm as part of BBC One’s Christmas line-up.

Revolting Rhymes takes on the classic tales of Little Red Riding Hood, Snow White, The Three Little Pigs, Jack and the Beanstalk and Cinderella, then mixes them together and serves them up with a mischievous twist.

The first of the two half hour episodes sees young Snow White and Red Riding Hood become lifelong friends as Snow White takes on the might of the wicked Queen, while Red is called home to deal with a pair of hungry wolves – one who’s eaten her grandma and then dressed in her clothes, while the other can’t help himself from eating some unsuspecting pigs.

In the second film, Jack grows up with his heart set on next-door neighbour Cindy. She has her eye turned by the eligible Prince at the ball, and Jack gets distracted by a giant beanstalk at the bottom of his garden. Will they find true love?

Overarching both films, the narrator, a big bad wolf, has all the answers as well as a story of his own to tell.

The all-star voice casts includes the likes of Dominic West, David Walliams, Rob Brydon, Tamsin Greig and Gemma Chan.

Magic Light’s previous Christmas premieres have proved to be big draws with audiences. Last year’s Stick Man saw record ratings of 9.3 million viewers, while the company has also produced Room on the Broom (2012), The Gruffalo (2009) and The Gruffalo’s Child (2011).
