Surtex 2017 celebrates ‘strong showing’

Next year’s art and design licensing showcase also dated for May 20-22 2018.

Surtex is celebrating a ‘strong showing’ at last month’s event, with show organiser Emerald Expositions reporting continued positive feedback from exhibitors.

The event – which ran from May 21-23 at New York’s Jacob K Javits Convention Center – attracts buyers, licensees, manufacturers and brands that licence or purchase original designs for products across a variety of categories.

These include home furnishings, apparel, bed and bath, fabric prints, tabletop and wall décor among others.

“Surtex had a strong showing of quality attendees and diversity of exhibitors,” said Jill Campbell, vice president of marketing, Emerald Expositions.

“Even after the show, exhibitors continue to report that valuable connections made during the show have resulted in ongoing licensing deals for, and sales of, their work.”

Exhibitors, such as the V&A, were also full of praise for the show.

“The Victoria & Albert Museum exhibits at Surtex because it’s a shop window for us; People come to see what’s new at the V&A,” said the museum’s Lauren Sizeland. “We come to be sure we’re working on-trend, to see how we can respond to those trends, and make things easier for our licensees.”

Next year’s event will run from May 20-22, 2018 with registration opening in the winter at www.surtex.com.
