Brands star in new Must See Movies listing

Into Film collates new list of the 50 films children should watch before they turn 11.

A host of big name franchises and licensed names have been included in a new listing of the 50 films that children should watch before they turn 11.

Film industry experts picked the movies which most benefit a child’s development and creativity for the list, which has been put together by education charity Into Film.

It also allows for the nostalgia factor when choosing which films families want to watch together.

The Must See Movies Before You Grow Up campaign is being run in conjunction with the UK video industry, and retailers such as HMV are backing it with special in-store executions.

The campaign is split into five categories: Classics, Thrills and Chills, Heroes and Villains, Kids Rule and Adventure.

Familiar names to the licensing business included in the 50 films are: Frozen, Shrek, The Lion King, The LEGO Movie, 101 Dalmatians, Hotel Transylvania, Star Wars: A New Hope, The Gruffalo, Wallace and Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit, Zootropolis, How to Train Your Dragon, Matilda, The BFG, Paddington, Shaun the Sheep: The Movie, The Secret Life of Pets, Toy Story, Trolls and Up among others.

The oldest film in the listing is Disney’s Dumbo from 1941.

Paul Reeve, chief executive at Into Film, commented: “Film entertains, educates and inspires. The Must See Movies list of the 50 films every child should see before they reach the age of 11 has been selected by our panel to do all of those things.”
