Nat Geo and Clarks reveal moon landing range

Limited edition range using recycled and sustainable materials launched on 50th anniversary of moon landing.

National Geographic and Clarks have revealed a special extension to their collaborative footwear range.

Celebrating the official 50th anniversary of man landing on the moon on July 20, the partnership has added a limited edition space-themed collection for kids and toddlers to the Clarks Kids x National Geographic range.

Two new shoes – Ath Geo and Scape Sonar – have been badged and coloured in three styles to celebrate three planets and three themes: The Moon Landing 1969 (orange), Earth Focus 2019 (silver) and Mars Mission 2033 (black).

As with the first collection – which launched earlier this year – comfort and sustainability are a major feature: 50% recycled polyester is used in the shoe linings and 70% of the Strobel construction of each shoe is recycled, too.

In addition, the one-piece shoe box is 100% recyclable.

“This stylish extension to a wonderful, eco-friendly collection is perfectly timed and positioned to capture the thrill of the greatest moment in space exploration – and to encourage young people to dream of great space adventures still to come,” said Helena Mansell-Stopher, director consumer products, publishing and retail at National Geographic Partners UK.

The launch is part of a global, multi-year partnership between Clarks and National Geographic. A portion of the revenue generated by this and other National Geographic-supported Clarks collections will support the National Geographic Society’s work in the areas of science, exploration, conservation, and education.

The first Clarks Kids x National Geographic collection featured 16 shoes made from 100% recycled bottles, using recycled cardboard and natural vegetable dye for the packaging.
