Sustainability in Licensing Conference returns for 2021

SILC21 will take place at The British Library, London as well as streamed digitally globally on Thursday 24 June 2021.

The date, format and strong official support for Sustainability in Licensing Conference 2021 (SILC 21) have now been confirmed – with the conference set to take place on Thursday 24 June physically at The British Library, London while also being streamed online, globally.

The content will also be available for all ticket holders to view afterwards.

Set to build on the success of the inaugural SILC – which took place digitally last November – the agenda for the upcoming June event will include all new content, aimed at everyone in the licensing arena who is looking to progress their respective sustainable journeys, from retailers to licensors, licensees to trade suppliers. SILC 21’s aims are to inspire and inform how the dynamic licensing sector can continue to innovate and grow commercially, while not costing the planet.

Organised by Products of Change (the online membership platform for sustainable advancement within the industry) and Max Publishing (publishers of Licensing Source Book, LicensingSource.net and organisers of The Licensing Awards and the B&LLAs), SILC 21 will be curated by Helena Mansell-Stopher, founder of Products of Change.

“It has been wonderful to learn of the many businesses who were inspired by the presentations and panel discussions at SILC20 and have since implemented those learnings into actionable sustainable change,” explained Helena. “We look to build on this with SILC21, and by making it a dual-cast event, visitors have the option of attending in person or participating via the digital platform.

“To drive sustainable growth within the licensing industry over the next few decades will require a radical approach to business practices, be it through embracing new materials and production techniques, re-engineering packaging or adopting new marketing methods, all without sacrificing financial growth. Our aim with SILC 2021 is to help both futureproof our industry and our world.

An in-person event will take place at The British Library, as well as the conference being streamed online.

The speaker line-up for SILC 21 promises to be a heady mix of leading lights and visionaries from outside and within the industry as well as retail experts, all sharing their inspiring achievements and demonstrating the gains, both environmentally and financially, that can be made.

Feedback from the 2021 event was extremely positive, with the attendee survey confirming that 100% found it good value for money and will attend again in 2021, whilst 87% also said they took away valuable tools that they would implement to their business. Additionally, 94% confirmed that the content gave them new information that they were otherwise missing.

A number of leading companies have already pledged their official support to SILC 2021, underlining their commitment to change within the industry. These include Amscan, BBC Studios, Brandgenuity, Character World, Dreamtex, GB eye, Hasbro, MDR Brand Management, Natural History Museum, TDP Textiles, Those Licensing People, ViacomCBS and Warner Bros. Consumer Products, with more due to be announced in the coming weeks. Products of Change is the headline supporter of SILC 2021.
