Licensing experts to star on London Book Fair panel

Execs from Penguin Ventures, Rocket Licensing, The Roald Dahl Story Company and V&A to join Ryan Beaird for publishing panel.

The virtual London Book Fair will see a panel of licensing industry executives gather to discuss how to build a successful brand from a book next week.

Chaired and presented by Ryan Beaird – former marketing manager at Licensing International UK and ceo of imaginators.tv – the licensing seminar will take place on Tuesday 22 June from 13:25pm to 14:25pm.

Pitched as being a perfect seminar for publishers wanting to get into licensing or authors wanting to understand how the licensing industry operates and how to build a brand from their works, Ryan will run through the basics of licensing, followed by a presentation from Thomas Merrington, creative director at Penguin Ventures, who will talk about Peter Rabbit’s live exhibitions.

Following the presentations, there will be a live Q&A session including Thomas; as well as Rob Wijeratna (joint md at Rocket Licensing, who will share insights into the late Eric Carle’s The Very Hungry Caterpillar merchandise; Rebecca French, (head of licensing at The Roald Dahl Story Company) on managing the estate works for consumer products; and Lauren Sizeland (head of licensing and business development at the V&A), who will talk about the museum’s successful Alice in Wonderland exhibition and its award winning shop.

“We are delighted that we can host this panel as part of The Online Book Fair’s seminar programme,” said Andy Ventris, event director at London Book Fair. “We are sure that this topic will be of great interest to our audience, with more than 2,000 global publishing professionals registered for the event and licensing being such a crucial part to the business of publishing, this looks set to be one of the highlights of the Online Book Fair programme.”

Registration for the seminar is free. For full details, simply click on this link.
