Sony Creative Products signs for Sesame Street in Japan

SCP will aim to ‘optimise exposure’ for the brand across the territory through activations and retail events, as well as pursuing other opportunities.

Sony Creative Products has been named as the licensing agent for Sesame Street in Japan by Sesame Workshop.

Sesame Street was first broadcast in Japan in 1971, meaning that 2021 marks 50 years since its launch in the territory.

SCP has been tasked with maximising the awareness of Sesame Street’s core values, looking at further exposure through brand activations and retail events, while also pursuing further business opportunities.

The agency will target a wide range of demographics – from preschoolers and their caregivers, through to Generation Z and adults.

Sesame Street is currently seen in over 150 countries and generates $1.4 billion in worldwide retail sales of licensed products.
