Danilo first licensee for Ladybird Grown-ups brand

Company will develop greeting cards, calendars and gift wrap for popular brand.

Following on from last week’s announcement about the bespoke licensing programme – plus a secret launch at PG Live – Penguin Ventures has confirmed Danilo as the first licensee for the Ladybird Books for Grown-ups licensing programme.

Penguin Ventures worked with its sales consultant Start Licensing on the deal, which will see Danilo create greeting cards, calendars and gift wrap for the satirical humour brand.

There will be a particular focus on age and occasion gift cards, using both visual and written content from the best selling book series.

Dan Grant, senior licensing manager at Danilo, said: “We’re delighted to be working with such a fun and exciting brand. With Ladybird Books For Grown-Ups occupying seven out of the top eight best-selling books, we feel this range lends itself perfectly to the adult gifting market.

“We are excited to launch these new products and feel this could be one of the best performing ranges for 2016/17.”

Damian Treece, brand manager at Penguin Ventures, added: “We’re all absolutely thrilled to be working with Danilo on the Ladybird Books for Grown-Ups range.

“As a company they have a proven track record working with humour licences and gift retailers. Pair those factors with their fantastic design capability and speed to market, and we’re excited to build a long and successful programme.”
