DRi shows its wild side with new design brand

Agency snaps up Barbarian brand from young American designer.

DRi Licensing has bolstered its portfolio with the signing of a new design brand, whose designer has a ‘wild at heart, rebel spirit’.

Barbarian has been created by American designer, Barbra Ignatiev, who has over 15 years’ pattern and product design experience.

She aims to speak to ‘the young and the young at heart’ with the brand, bringing a free spirited and adventurous feeling to product.

Her distinctive watercolours combine bright bursts of colour with muted neutrals and blacks, and feature an eclectic range of unique, contemporary patterns – from lush and tropical florals and feathers, to bohemian and tribal prints.

Barbarian is extensively licensed in the US across multiple categories including bags and accessories, stationery, gifting, tableware and fabrics.  Demonstrating the brand’s global appeal, Barbra has also collaborated with Anthropologie for ceramic tableware, stationery and accessories featuring colourful floral prints which have proven to be a success.

“There’s currently a strong mix and match pattern-driven trend into which Barbarian plays perfectly,” said Alicia Davenport, DRi’s licensing director. “We’re thrilled to be taking on this beautiful brand and blown away by the colour, freshness and strength of the graphics.”
