Bluey wins Property of the Year in Bologna

Maurizio Distefano Licensing picked up the award for Property of the Year for Bluey at the recent Bologna Licensing Awards.

Held during the Bologna Licensing Trade Fair earlier in March, the awards covered up to 10 different categories including Preschool, Kids, Teen and Adult, with special accolades for Retail, Fashion, Publishing, Promotion, Kiosk and Property.

Maurizio Distefano and Michela Marchese Patti collected the award for Bluey on behalf of BBC Studios. The property has captured the hearts of audiences in Italy in little more than a year, with the first and second seasons airing daily on Rai Yoyo. Episodes of series one to three are also available on Disney+, while the Bluey Italian-language YouTube channel has more than 77,000 subscribers.

Bluey’s toy line (produced by Moose) was successfully launched by Giochi Preziosi in spring 2022, while other partners are actively launching product including Adriatic, Ciao, Clementoni, Diramix, Dolfin, Dulcop, Grabo, Halantex, Lisciani, Multiprint, Pon Pon Edizioni, Ravensburger and Soluna Experience.

“We are extremely happy and grateful for this award,” commented Maurizio Distefano, president of MDL. “I immediately grasped the great potential of Bluey for its lively and above all extremely realistic content. The animated series offers great opportunities for licensing projects and the nomination as Best Property of the Year is further confirmation of the brand’s strength.”
