“It’s the perfect opportunity to thank everyone who has been on the journey with us”

LSB’s bumper autumn issue comes with a special 16-page publication devoted to leading character events provider and mascot manufacturer Rainbow Productions – a company that needs little introduction to most readers of Licensing Source Book.

Published to mark Rainbow’s four decades in business, the supplement showcases Rainbow’s brand refresh while celebrating how this once small subsidiary of CPLG has grown to become a global market leader in the costume industry, with clients including Hasbro, BBC Studios, LEGOLAND, UEFA, FIFA and the Saudi Pro League.

From Paddington dancing with the Princess of Wales in 2017 to Peppa Pig leading the conga line at Eurovision this year, there have been some memorable milestones on Rainbow’s journey, as former md David Scott can attest (“We’d do whatever it took to make a character appearance a success,” he recalls on page 4, “even if it meant me holding on to Spot the Dog hanging out of a Buckingham Palace window for some BBC filming.”)

There’s plenty of business insight too, with creative marketing manager Georgina Huckle explaining how licensed character appearances can boost footfall, press coverage and, mostly importantly, sales (“by as much as 200%”), and sales and marketing director James Barlow and licensing director Magdalena Foulkes outlining some of the key measures Rainbow has put in place – from new licensing and technological capabilities to sustainability policies – to keep the company at the top of its game.

“Hitting our 40th birthday milestone is huge for us, and along with our logo refresh, this LSB supplement is part of our birthday celebrations,” said Simon Foulkes, Rainbow Productions’ owner and md. “We’ve been able to look back at some of our proudest moments from the past and showcase the latest innovations that will future-proof the business. Importantly, it’s the perfect opportunity to thank everyone who has been on the journey with us, from clients and colleagues to the world-class brands that we’re delighted to represent.”
