PAW Patrol, Power Rangers triumph at Toy Industry Awards

Key licences stand out in several categories as industry gathers at London Toy Fair.

Several key licensed character brands were among the winners at last night’s Toy Industry Awards.

It was a big night for Nickelodeon’s PAW Patrol – Spin Master’s PAW Patroller was named the Preschool Toy of the Year (pictured), with the property also scooping Licence of the Year.

Meanwhile, the popularity of Shopkins with toy retailers shows no signs of slowing – Flair’s line was named Collectable Range of the Year.

Bandai walked away with the Action Figures Range of the Year for its Power Rangers line, while Pokémon was Craze of the Year, with Esdevium – the distributor of the Trading Card Game – collecting the accolade.

LEGO Star Wars was named Construction Range of the Year, while Mattel picked up Doll of the Year for its DC Super Hero Girls 12-inch Fashion Assortment.

It was also a good night for MGA’s Num Noms brand – the Lip Gloss Truck was named Imaginative Play-set of the Year.

Other big winners included Smyths Toys – which was named Toy Retailer of the Year – Shop Direct (Online Retailer of the Year) and Argos (General Multiple Toy Retailer of the Year).
