The Light Fund dates most ambitious event yet

Four day Bristol to Dublin cycle tour will take place from June 12-15, 2018.

Licensing industry charity The Light Fund has revealed details of its most ambitious fundraiser to date in 2018 – a 325 mile cycle ride from Bristol to Dublin.

The four day challenge will leave Bristol on Tuesday June 12, 2018 taking in the stunning Welsh and Irish countryside, with challenging climbs and invigorating downhills, before culminating in Dublin on Friday June 15.

The event has been organised by a group of licensing industry executives – The Light Fund Cycle Tour 2018 Team: Anthony Temple, Rainbow Designs; David Scott, Rainbow Productions; Hannah Mungo, NBC Universal; Ian Hyder, Max Publishing; Simon Gresswell; Stephen Gould, Sutikki; and Warren Traeger, Imagine8.

Places are limited to 120, with The Light Fund hoping to raise between £150,000-£200,000 for the charity.

The event – which is being managed and supervised by sports events company Classic Tours – is open to everyone from the licensing and associated industries; although some training will be required!

Each participant will need to pay an entry cost of £900 for a special ’start to finish line’ package, as well as then raising between £750-£1,000 in sponsorship.

Warren Traeger, one of the organisers of the Bristol to Dublin Challenge, told The Source: “For the past few months, the Cycling Tour 2018 organising committee have been working together to create an event for The Light Fund unlike anything we’ve seen before.

“Spurred on by the huge success of 2015’s London to Utrecht ride, the 2018 challenge will be significantly bigger in scale and we are thrilled to be teaming up with Classic Tours to event manage the ride.”

Warren continued: “Pre-launch interest has been incredible and with a maximum 120 places to fill, we expect this to be a sell out event. We look forward to sharing more news and updates with everyone over the coming months.”

In 2015, 44 licensing industry executives from the UK, Netherlands and the US cycled from London to Utrecht raising a record breaking £70,000 for The Light Fund, as well as €27,500 for Wilhelmina Children’s Hospital in Utrecht.
