LIMA ready for London Book Fair sessions

Industry trade body to host a number of seminars at next week’s big publishing fair.

LIMA will once again be hosting a number of licensing sessions at next week’s London Book Fair.

The industry trade body will be presenting three sessions at the event – which runs from April 10-12 at London’s Olympia.

Taking place at 11am on Tuesday April 10, LIMA’s Ryan Beaird will be speaking to Sanrio’s Alison Green about the products that have helped Mr Men Little Miss become an iconic brand.

This will be followed up at 4pm with a Licensing For Publishers & What A Licensing Agent Can Do For Your Book IP with Ryan and Metrostar’s Claire Potter.

LIMA-sponsored networking drinks will then take palce from 5pm-6pm.

On Wednesday April 11, at 2.30pm, Ryan will be speaking to Esra Cafer, vp global brand management at eOne about how bestselling book series PJ Masks made the leap into licensing and what lessons can be learned.

Kelvyn Gardner, LIMA UK md, told The Source: “Publishing is a vibrant sector of the licensing world and LIMA is pleased to continue our association with London Book Fair in 2018.

“We’ll be hosting three seminars, as well as being on the spot to offer advice on licensing to the publishing community.

“With Harry Potter, PJ Masks and Paddington all enjoying terrific licensing success in the last year, there has never been a healthier time for the links between licensing and the literary world to prosper.”

In addition, licensing and brand building will also be the subject of a number of other sessions.

An Introduction to Brand Licensing will take place at 2.45pm on April 10, featuring LIMA’s Ryan, Susan Bolsover from Penguin Ventures and Rob Wijeratna from Rocket Licensing. It will be moderated by Helen McAleer.

Meanwhile, on Thursday (April 12), Made in Me’s Eric Huang will moderate a session called The Power of Brand Partnerships, with panelists including Rosalyn Carmoody from Brand and Deliver, Magic Light Pictures’ Daryl Shute, Julia Posen from Walker Books and Paul Denton from South Bank Centre.

Finally, Make an Exhibition of Yourself – Museums as Brand Partners will also run on Thursday. Moderated by The Brand Director’s Tim Collins, panelists will include Helen Jensen from Natural History Museum, V&A’s Lauren Sizeland and Abigail Ratcliffe from the Science Museum.
