A visit to The Licensing Arms in aid of The Light Fund

A virtual pint and catch up for the ‘Semi Young Licensing Lads’ raises £130 for industry charity.

The Licensing Arms opened its doors for business last Friday April 3, with a group of licensing friends getting together for a virtual pint and catch-up.

The self-styled ‘Semi Young Licensing Lads’ arranged to meet for a drink and a chat while working from home during the current government-set lockdown. Formed in 2018 by Riverside Brands’ Ash Holman and Max Publishing’s Rob Willis, the group holds quarterly meets for regular ‘networking and information sharing’ – often, by some coincidence, based at public houses owing to the range of soft drinks and strong wifi on offer.

Ash told LicensingSource.net: “I was missing the networking and information sharing that is so vital to my business, so when Rob suggested we get the gang together for a virtual pint I thought it was a great idea. It was nice to raise a glass together at the end of another strange week – not least as it was also my birthday!”

Rob agreed, saying: “A drink with friends was a fantastic way to lighten the mood before the weekend, with some brilliant cameo appearances from the licensing children at home. Hats-off to Sam Ferguson who suggested that an entry fee of £10 should be payable to The Light Fund – we raised £130 and for once we all got home before midnight…”

Attendees included: Dan Grant, Danilo; Tom Roe, Big Picture Licensing; Rich Haines, eOne; Adam Robson and Rob Broadhurst, Aykroyd & Sons; Ben Lowe, Roy Lowe & Sons; Sam Ferguson, Jazwares; Jason Easy and Rikesh Desai, BBC; Rob Corney, Bulldog Licensing; Dave Tovey, Beanstalk; and Rob Willis, Max Publishing.

Keep an eye out for the next get-together, as guest drinkers will be welcome.
