News extra: More licensing news from this week

Including Rainbow Productions restructuring its marketing team as it eyes further growth.

The Source rounds up more news from the licensing industry across the globe from the week.

Rainbow Productions has restructured its marketing department with a more creative focus. The mascot manufacturer and character events company has recently expanded into new premises and has added a number of new properties to its character portfolio, including HoHo Entertainment’s Shane the Chef (pictured above with Georgina (left) and Anete). Georgina Huckle, who has been with the company for over 10 years, has been promoted to creative marketing manager. She is joined by Anete Henkuzena as the company’s new creative marketing executive. Georgina and Anete will be overseeing client artwork approvals for licensed character events, boosting Rainbow Productions’ presence on social media and improving its corporate branding as it looks to expand in the overseas market.

Rocket Licensing has signed up three new licensees for the Godzilla brand – which it represents in the UK and Ireland on behalf of Toho. Park Agencies is producing a new line of adult and kids’ daywear inspired by the new film, Godzilla: King of the Monsters. Meanwhile, Aykroyds and TDP Textiles will launch a range of children’s and adult nightwear and underwear, while home textile company Texco is currently developing a range of bedding as well as exploring other product lines such as towels, cushions, slippers and novelty gowns.

Endemol Shine Group has partnered with Curve Digital for the first official Peaky Blinders PC and console game, which will launch in 2020. The narrative action game will be inspired by the gangster drama and will feature favourite characters and popular locations from the series.

Foot Locker has introduced its latest ‘POP by Foot Locker’ collaboration which comes in the form of a PUMA GV Special inspired by The Walking Dead. Each pair features hand-painted dirt patterns and custom leather detailing on both the tongue and the heel of the shoe, while The Whisperers’ leader, Alpha, is stamped on the insoles. The deal was brokered by AMC’s worldwide licensing agent, Striker Entertainment.

Sony Creative Products – which manages licensing in the Japanese market for Mattel’s Pingu – has seen success with a special collaboration with women’s lifestyle magazine, Lettuce Club. Readers were asked to come up with an original recipe themed around Pingu, his family and friends, turn it into a meal and send the recipe and picture to the magazine. The winner had the chance to see their recipe featured in Lettuce Club, while there were also special prizes of Pingu-themed goods for the best recipe ideas.

eOne’s PJ Masks has made its debut on free to air broadcaster CCTV in China. The first season has launched on CCTV14, CCTV’s children’s channel, marking the first time that the preschool property will appear on broadcast TV in the territory (having previously only been available on SVOD platforms).
