Sustainability in Licensing Conference 2020 postponed until November

Industry gives support as inaugural event moves to Wednesday November 25.

It has been announced today (April 1) that the Sustainability in Licensing Conference 2020 (SILC) will be going ahead, but it has been postponed until Wednesday November 25.

The one-day conference, being organised by Max Publishing (which was due to be held on June 11), will take place at The British Library in London, the same venue as previously.

Explaining, Helena Mansell-Stopher, SILC conference director said: “While all our personal and business lives are currently being disrupted so dramatically by COVID-19, we were encouraged to not cancel such an important event, but to find a new date later in the year when it could take place. The late November timing will allow companies breathing space when they return back to their ‘new normal’ before we all continue our sustainable journey as an industry.”

Helena highlighted how the postponement of SILC has received the full backing from the speakers and official supporters alike.

“Our speakers from Asda, Tesco, Marks and Spencer, The Ellen McArthur Foundation, University of Central Saint Martins, The Insights People, Wastebusters, Teemil, R&A, Offset Earth and Change Plastic for Good have all confirmed their commitment to the November date,” she said.

The new date means that respected economist, Richard Lim, chief executive officer of Retail Economics will be joining the already impressive line-up of speakers. He will discuss future retail and financial trends pertaining to sustainability.

SILC’s official supporters – which include BBC Studios, Warner Brothers Consumer Products, Hasbro, Viacom CBS, The Natural History Museum, Discovery, Arts & Science International, Character World, MDR Brand Management, Brandgenuity, TDP Textiles, RH Smith & Sons, Kids Industries, Amscan International, Dreamtex, Global Brands Group, GB eye, Those Licensing People and the University of Oxford Limited have all pledged their continuing new support for the date change.

Products of Change remains the headline supporter of SILC 2020.
