Amazon reveals past Black Friday trends

FIFA, Guardians of the Galaxy, Monsters University, Toy Story 3 among previous top sellers.

Amazon.co.uk has revealed its most popular Black Friday buys of all time as it celebrates the start of this year’s sale event.

A number of familiar licensed names have made the retrospective.

These include FIFA 17 (2016, video game), Guardians of the Galaxy (2014, DVD), Monsters University (2013, DVD) and Toy Story 3 (2010, DVD).

Amazon UK country manager, Doug Gurr, commented: “We introduced Black Friday in the UK back in 2010 because we believed that customers would be excited by the prospect of getting incredible deals on great gifts just a handful of weeks before Christmas.

“The customer response in that first year confirmed that belief. Fast forward seven years and Black Friday is one of the biggest days in the shopping calendar not only here in the UK, but also now in many countries around the world.”

Other Black Friday highlights across the years include Frozen Snow Glow Elsa Doll as the top selling toy in 2015. Also according to the Amazon data, FIFA has sold more copies than any other game every year since Black Friday 2014.

The best selling DVD in Black Friday history, meanwhile, is Monsters University.
