Matthew Williamson reveals second CB2 collab

New 12-piece collection with US homewares store continues designer’s brand extension.

British designer Matthew Williamson has added to his portfolio of collaborations in the home sector, launching a second collection with US retailer CB2.

The new 12-piece range follows on from his first collection with CB2 in 2016.

It includes rugs, cushion covers and other home accessories, all showcasing a more ‘playful touch’ to the prints used in the range such as the Regal Monkeys and Midnight Jungle.

Originally featured in Matthew’s ready to wear collection, CB2’s Regal Monkeys print was inspired by Belvoir Castle in Leicestershire. The castle features handprinted chinoiserie wallpapers illustrated with animal motifs, which have been reinterpreted in Matthew’s signature style.

Meanwhile, the Midnight Jungle print has been stripped back to its hand-drawn elements and features many little scenes within to tell a story about Matthew’s favourite animals: parrot, butterfly, flamingo and monkey.

As well as the CB2 tie-up, through his partnership with Beanstalk, Matthew has expanded his aesthetic into further home and gift collaborations including Osborne & Little (now in its sixth season), Museums & Galleries and Duresta.

His collaboration with Osborne & Little also goes from strength to strength with the recent autumn collection of ‘Deya’ named after the village in the hills of the Balearic island of Mallorca near where the designer has a home and spends several months of the year.

The surroundings have inspired embroidered and printed fabrics, and wallpapers which are decidedly Mediterranean in mood and colouring.

The evolution of Matthew’s interior design work also continues with two further projects – a luxury candle and reed diffusers range and a suite interior design with the Belmond Hotel Group, which both have been revealed earlier this year.

In addition, Matthew continues to explore other opportunities in the home sector such as table top and decorative accessories.
