Amazon Fire for Kids bolsters content line-up

New additions from Disney, Nickelodeon, Mattel, SEGA join the service.

Amazon has bolstered its Fire for Kids Unlimited offering, adding more videos, educational apps, games and books from brand owners such as Disney, Nickelodeon and Mattel.

Fire for Kids Unlimited – which was designed from the ground up for kids and their parents – starts at £1.99 per month for Prime members and £3.99 for non members.

When it launched last year, Amazon offered content for three to eight year olds, but has now expanded that to include content for older children from nine to 12.

Thunderbirds Are Go, iCarly, Barbie, Hot Wheels, Slugterra, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Harry Potter and Dennis the Menace are all among the content added for older children.

At the same time, Fire for Kids Unlimited has added new titles for younger children. These include apps like Peppa Pig: Holiday, Numberjacks, Inside Out and Big Hero 6, plus new videos from My Little Pony, Tom & Jerry and Scooby-Doo among others.

“Last year, we introduced Fire for Kids Unlimited to the UK with thousands of apps, games, videos and books for kids aged 3-8. Today we’re adding even more, with new content for older kids aged 9-12,” said Jorrit Van der Meulen, vp, Amazon Devices EU.

“To help more easily manage all that great content, we’re launching Fire for Kids Smart Filters to give parents the ultimate say in what their kids are seeing. Younger kids still have the freedom to explore titles that are appropriate for their age group, while older kids get to play Monument Valley and see videos, apps, games and books that are just right for them.”
