Incredibles 2 is top animated film of all time in US

Disney-Pixar movie surpasses $500 million in the US.

A week ahead of its UK release, Incredibles 2 has become the biggest animated film of all time in the US.

The Disney-Pixar sequel has become the first animated film in history to surpass the $500m milestone in the US and grossing a spectacular $773 million globally in its first four weeks.

Incredibles 2 is now the biggest animated film of all time in the US, with the release knocking fellow Disney-Pixar title, 2016’s Finding Dory, off the top spot.

The record fell on the day of the film’s UK premiere, with voice stars Holly Hunter (Mrs Incredible) and Samuel L. Jackson (Frozone) walking the red carpet at London’s BFI Southbank.

The pair took the time to show their support for England’s heroes by standing alongside the flag of St George ahead of England’s World Cup semi-final.

“We are delighted that Incredibles 2 has broken the record to become the biggest animated film of all time in the US,” said Lee Jury, head of studios UK and EMEA at The Walt Disney Company. “This is a remarkable achievement and we are all thrilled for director Brad Bird and the amazing team at Pixar.

“As World Cup fever heats up further and hopes soar for England’s team of football Incredibles, we cannot wait for UK audiences to be able to experience Disney-Pixar’s Incredibles 2 when the film opens in UK cinemas this coming Friday.”
