Hachette Partworks adds Terminator collection

New weekly partwork collection will celebrate the legendary science fiction cyborg.

Hachette Partworks is launching a new weekly collection to celebrate the legendary science fiction cyborg, the Terminator.

To mark this year’s 35th anniversary of the original film, fans will be able to build their own T-800.

They simply need to collect all the pieces to assemble the T-800 endoskeleton (scale 1:2, 93cm height), together with a magazine featuring detailed and illustrated easy to follow step-by-step instructions, and features on the film.

“If ever there was a fully-automated artificially-intelligent combat chassis icon of cinema, it’s the T-800, and the chance to be your own Skynet and assemble and own one of these red-eyed beauties is going to appeal to a lot of people out there,” said Steve White, senior editor at Hachette. “The model is incredible and superbly made and stands at nearly one metre tall.

“The magazine that comes with each issue isn’t just a simple step-by-step guide. It’s going to look deeply into the world of the Terminator, movie robots as a whole and some of the greatest sci-fi films ever made, but also cast an eye over the morals and ethics of AI, drones and many of the other real world systems that are already a significant part of our lives, pondering many of the questions The Terminator raised on its release.”

The movie was originally released in 1984 and starred Arnold Schwarzenegger as The Terminator, Michael Biehn and Linda Hamilton.
