Rocket readies Horrible Science Easter event

Science book brand to hold two-week event at Wakehurst Place across Easter break.

Rocket Licensing is set to put on two weeks of Horrible Science Easter activities next month.

‘Funny, accessible and entertaining’ science will be the inspiration for a fortnight of activities in the weeks leading up to Easter at Wakehurst Place, which is part of the Royal Botanic Gardens Kew.

Taking place from April 6-22, there will be an activity trail, make and do activities, seed planting, storytelling and a family interactive zone under such inviting titles as Horrid Science Lab, Wicked Weeds Detective Hunt and Gruesome Plant Games.

New artwork by illustrator Tony De Saulles has been created for the event.

“We are delighted to have partnered with the Royal Botanic Gardens Kew for this exciting Easter partnership,” said Charlie Donaldson, joint md of Rocket Licensing. “The popularity of the funny and ingenious Horrible Science brand is sure to have wide appeal and bring a raft of new visitors to this wonderful West Sussex attraction during the coming holidays. A great – and slightly yucky – time is guaranteed for all.”

Since its inception in 1996, Horrible Science has been published in over 30 countries in more than 20 languages and has sold over four million books in the UK.

Educational toy company Galt has been a partner for Horrible Science since 2003, with three new kits launching this year – Ghastly Glow, Perilous Planes and Chaotic Kitchen Experiments.

Further potential categories for Horrible Science licensing being assessed by Rocket include games and puzzles, gifting, toys and stationery.
