Dogs Trust teams with Snoopy for new Cardiff art trail

Over 50 giant sculptures of character will be decorating the streets of Cardiff in autumn 2021 thanks to Wild in Art.

The UK’s largest dog welfare charity, Dogs Trust will be unleashing a breed of Snoopy sculptures on the city of Cardiff next autumn.

The charity has teamed up with Peanuts to bring the new art trail to the city featuring the famous beagle. The dog-friendly trail will take visitors along some of the best dog walking routes in the city and aims to raise awareness and funds for the charity – which will soon be opening a rehoming centre in Cardiff.

A Dog’s Trail with Snoopy – in collaboration with creative producer, Wild in Art – will take both two and four-legged visitors on a trail through the heart of the Welsh capital for ten weeks, during autumn 2021. The trail will feature unique and colourful Snoopy sculptures designed by Cardiff-based and national artists.

Each sculpture will be sponsored by a business or individual and have its own tale to tell, many showcasing Cardiff’s wealth of artistic talent while celebrating the vibrancy, culture and creativity that the city has to offer.

At the end of the trail, the Snoopy sculptures will be auctioned to raise funds for Dogs Trust.

“A Dog’s Trail with Snoopy is an exciting new adventure for Dogs Trust,” said Owen Sharp, chief executive. “I can’t wait to see the iconic Snoopy brought to life, bringing colour and fun to the streets of Cardiff.

“The trail’s aim is to raise pounds for hounds so that we can continue to improve dog welfare in Wales. We know that it is going to be a spectacular exhibition for everyone who joins in and we’re excited to make A Dog’s Trail a lasting legacy, just like Snoopy himself.”

For Wild in Art, the new collaboration marks a return to Cardiff – its first art trail in the city was Snowdogs Tails in 2017.

To date, the company’s events have contributed more than £15 million to charities and £2.4 million to creative communities.

Charlie Landhorne, md and co-founder, commented: “We are delighted to be returning to Cardiff and working with Dogs Trust and Peanuts to create A Dog’s Trail with Snoopy – our first ever dog-friendly art trail.

“Our events are designed to bring the enjoyment of public art to everyone while offering new ways for people to explore their local area, but we need the support of local businesses to make it happen.”

Charlie continued: “Sponsorship of a Snoopy sculpture is a fabulous opportunity and there are many exciting ways to benefit from a collaboration with us, while supporting Dogs Trust’s amazing work.”
