Football tops Danilo’s 2016 calendar listing

Liverpool and Manchester United take number one and two positions, holding off entertainment brands.

Danilo has revealed its top 20 licensed calendars for 2016 – and for the first time in its 38-year history, sports brands have taken the top two spots.

Liverpool FC scored the number one position, selling over 3% more than the runner up, which was Manchester United.

Pokémon was the highest represented entertainment brand at number three, while Justin Bieber and Little Mix made up the rest of the top five.

The chart – which is for 2017 titles and is based on sales from HMV, Tesco, Calendar Club, Clintons and other major stationery stores, together with online sales throughout the UK and Europe – represents a change from previous years, when entertainment brands have dominated.

Last year’s winner, Star Wars, is now placed at number eight, while Minions and One Direction – numbers two and three last year – have fallen out of the top 20 completely; although Despicable Me did make number 20.
