Wow Stuff readies flying RC Minions

New line will be supported with in-store videos, CDUs and FSDUs, plus PR drive.

‘So easy to use even a Minion can fly one’ is the tagline for Wow Stuff’s new line of flying RC Minions, which uses patented Heliball auto flight technology.

Launching in time for the arrival of Despicable Me 3 in cinemas on June 30, the new line will be supported with in-store videos, CDUs and FSDUs, as well as a heavyweight PR drive.

A simple on/off remote activates the propellers and the Minion is then flown using a hand or feet as the controller.

“Heliball is about the lowest cost entry price point to RC flying, and the easiest to control for kids of all ages,” enthused Richard North, ceo of Wow Stuff. “The Minions execution looks fantastic.

“The sell through on Heliball is typically 40,000 pieces per 100 store retailers per annum. This proven sell-through is down to the in-store videos and demonstration that is the cornerstone of Wow Stuff’s business model.”

Wow Stuff has a strong track record in IP protection – including successful cases against B&M Bargains and Groupon in 2016 after several years of hard work by its legal team for infringing the AirSwimmers patents.

Richard says that the growth of Heliball has been aided by the IP including the granted patents and associated design registrations.

He added: “It’s just a little sad that we have to shout about the IP and how we protect rights, rather than focus wholly on creating new stuff. But, until the government brings in new laws to help IP and rights owners, it’s an issue that remains part and parcel of doing business in the toy industry.”
