Pottermore unveils Wizarding World Book Club

New official book community for Harry Potter fans worldwide goes live.

The first official Wizarding World Book Club has been launched by Pottermore, giving members the chance to join the global community of Harry Potter readers, each reading the same book at the same time.

Pottermore.com – the global digital publisher of Harry Potter and J.K Rowling’s Wizard World – is working with Harry Potter print publishers Bloomsbury and Scholastic on the initiative.

Beginning with Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, which was first published 20 years ago this month in the UK, the other six books in the Harry Potter series will be discussed sequentially in the months following the Club’s introduction.

Pottermore will host curated content specific to each book on site.

There will also be Twitter discussions hosted on the Wizarding World Book Club Twitter account, @wwbookclub, every Friday at 4pm BST.

Themes will include: how did you discover the Harry Potter stories?, Why are the Dursleys so afraid of magic?, Which friend has shown Harry the most loyalty so far?, and Is rebellion a good or bad thing at Hogwarts?

Other features of the Wizarding World Book Club include a newly created destination on pottermore.com, which will include specially curated articles, video and other content available first for members.

“We have launched the Wizarding World Book Club in response to a strong demand from our community for a destination to discuss the many nuances and themes of the books,” said Henriette Stuart-Reckling, global digital director, Pottermore.

“The Wizarding World Book Club provides an exciting opportunity for Harry Potter fans to share their thoughts about key scenes, plot points, motivations and characters from the series with a vast global community.”
