The Smileys and Newmoji named as ones to watch by leading trend report agency.
Two new IPs from The Smiley Company – which were launched at Brand Licensing Europe earlier this month – have been recognised by trend agency WGSN as ones to watch.
The global trend forecasting agency for brands included The Smileys and Newmoji as two out of four key properties which it picked up on from the event.
“It’s a great testament to our hard work and innovative approach that both of our new IPs have been singled out by the world’s leading trend forecast agency,” said Nicolas Loufrani, ceo of The Smiley Company. “Newmoji and The Smileys have great momentum already in the trade, following a positive response from our partners to both launches at BLE.”
With digital properties continuing to extend quickly into the licensing space, three of the four properties WGSN singled out connect seamlessly between digital and real worlds – Newmoji, The Smileys and Bing.
The trend forecasting agency’s data-driven report revealed that 81% of four year olds now have access to a tablet. While 41.6% of 3-12 year olds watch YouTube a few times a day and 26.1% once a day, showing the increasing demand from consumers for digital content as spending power shifts towards the younger generation.
Nicolas continued: “In an increasingly digital world we’ve focused on launching new IPs that connect seamlessly between digital and real life. Both properties are not only design-focused, but also helping to develop emotional intelligence. These are always our main focus as a business.”
