Retailers show support for Fantastic Beasts

Harrods, Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Primark among others all backing hotly tipped movie lines.

Warner Bros. Consumer Products has began the product roll out for the eagerly awaited movie, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.

Retailers across the globe are backing the property, with a raft of activity planned.

In the UK, partners include Harrods, which will be continuing its support of the Harry Potter universe – The Source revealed in August how the luxury retailer was enjoying a surge in popularity for the franchise.

Platform 9 3/4 – a destination retailer at London’s King’s Cross station – will also add product to support Fantastic Beasts.

Additional support will include apparel at grocers such as Tesco and Sainsbury’s, as well as gifting and stationery from partners such as GB eye and Pyramid, Walker Books and Bloomsbury (which are both releasing book programmes).

Throughout EMEA, Primark – the largest European retail partner for Harry Potter-themed merchandise – produced an exclusive t-shirt in the summer. It will now be expanding its ‘Wizarding World’ offering to include more product in fashion and home décor inspired by Fantastic Beasts.

Additional EMEA licensees and retail partners include Carrefour in France, key book store partners in Italy, featuring stationery and publishing partners; retailers like Fnac in France and Spain, supporting with stationery, gift and novelty product; and long-standing e-commerce partner Elbenwald in Germany with apparel, publishing, stationery, gifting and novelty items.

Among the retailers on board in the US, Barnes & Noble will have Funko exclusives, as well as collectables, stationery, gifts, apparel and an expanded publishing programme.

Fast fashion retailers in Brazil – including Riachuelo, Renner, C&A and Marisa – are all on board, while retailers across the Asia-Pacific region are also supporting the programme.
